About iWindowsMobile
iWindowsMobile is an independent online magazine about the smart home and connected water. We write for homeowners who want to use technology to save water and energy — not because gadgets are fun (although they often are), but because a well-instrumented home wastes less, costs less and breaks down less often.
Our mission
Water is the resource most homes still manage blindly. Most of us know our electricity usage down to the kilowatt-hour, yet have no idea how many litres disappeared through a dripping toilet valve last month. We believe that gap can be closed with affordable, well-chosen technology, and our job is to show you how. Every article starts with a practical question: what problem does this solve, how does it actually work, and is it worth your time and money?
What we cover
Our coverage is organised into four sections. In Smart Water Meters we explain how connected meters measure flow, how to read the data they produce and what to do with it. Leak Detection looks at sensors, automatic shut-off valves and the early-warning systems that can save you from a flooded basement. Home Apps reviews and compares the software that ties it all together, from manufacturer apps to open platforms like Home Assistant. And Energy Monitoring connects the dots between water and energy, because every litre of hot water you don't waste is energy you don't pay for.
How we work
We publish three kinds of articles. Explainers break down how a technology works in plain language — pulse counters, ultrasonic flow sensing, LoRaWAN, Matter. Setup guides walk you through installation and configuration step by step, including the parts that usually go wrong. Comparisons put products side by side and tell you which one fits which situation, with the trade-offs spelled out honestly.
We are deliberately not a gadget hype site. You will not find breathless launch coverage or press releases rewritten as news here. If a product is overpriced, locked into a pointless subscription or hard to install, we say so. If a cheap sensor and a bit of patience do the job just as well as a premium kit, we say that too. Our recommendations are based on how things perform in real homes with real plumbing, real Wi-Fi dead zones and real family members who just want the shower to work.
Who we are
Our small editorial team combines backgrounds in home automation, plumbing and technical writing. We test what we can, we read the documentation others skip, and we correct our mistakes openly when readers point them out.
